FORUM UPGRADE TECHNICALLY COMPLETE!

Welcome Home to HAPPYFACESCUBA.COM!

Finally, here we are! What you see now is only the default format of our new InvisionBoard version. Don't worry, be happy! We will eventually recreate a new Happy Face banner /header /logo and matching color scheme, so please hang in there with us. These changes will take time, but we're working on it and getting quotes!

Overall, we like the new feel of this board and we are thrilled to bits that all our content was preserved intact.

HELP feature:

In starting to get familiar with this new format, we first invite you to read the HELP section (link located at the top right of page, below your name). Once in HELP, the "TOPICS & POSTS" and "POSTING" topics will give you a good head start.

New on the HOME page:

Upon first logging in, you will have surely noticed something new on the HOME page: The presence of a new retractable margin (called a 'hook') running down along the right side of the page. This margin is only showing on the HOME page and can be made 'invisible' by clicking the small X at its top right corner, which then expands the remaining forum content further to the right for those who prefer that look. The content of this margin will be quite helpful in updating you with the latest forum happenings since your last visit.

Your Profile page:

You will find it by clicking the tiny white arrow located alongside your login name at the top right of the page. Although the settings are mostly the same, the Profile layout is quite different from the previous one so give yourself time to browse and get familiar with it.

Personal Messenger / E-mails:

We have once again disabled these features, for reasons explained under HELP, but you will still see those mentioned in your Profile until we figure out how to remove them all permanently.

So far, nobody has read our first post (above), but that's where you'll find most answers to your questions about this upgraded forum. Frankly, we're tickled pink as we explore our new home and can't wait until we can decorate it.

You'd laugh if you saw Carole and me (2,000 miles apart), debating for hours as we work on the site under our Skype headsets, exchanging ideas and making our decisions. Talk about burning the midnight oil! W a c k o ! Oh yes! We laugh too! :hystericalwdukv7to: We laugh at the "what if we did/wrote this or that" because we must always be careful that our words cannot be misinterpreted. It's an extremely time-consuming challenge, but one which gives us great satisfaction, especially when we try new things and they WORK - and when we read comments like yours.

Although you say it isn't the same without our banner / header / logo, we plan to change it to read www.happyfacescuba.com
instead of CubaCayosPlus, since we have now expanded beyond the cayos and become better known as Happy Faces. Mind you - the cayos will always hold a special place in our hearts.

We could never have managed over the past few years, if you hadn't alerted us to Skype: the FREE "telephone" with unlimited access anywhere in the world. With the only cost being for a double-jack headset, (one for the mike and the other for the computer) and purchasable anywhere for less than $50.00 - it's a Godsend to most and a Derek-send to us! Thanks a million Amigo!

Other Happy Faces can check out the FREE Skype internet telephone service if they CLICK HERE! It's a free download.

There's a small charge for calls to land-lines and cell phones which have not downloaded Skype for themselves.

It is great to see the positive comments here. It is indeed very encouraging!

I am quite curious though, to hear what it is that you, our members like about this new look. Doreen and I have the means to do some changes here to modify the appearance of this board. We have already started, by "bold"ing the title of each forum and by adding the "back to top" button at the bottom left of each post, a feature I personally used a lot in the previous forum and was disappointed to see missing in this new version. I was thrilled to bits to find the way to re-install it this afternoon.

Before Doreen and I go ahead with more changes, we would really like to hear if there is anything specific that you like or dislike. This will better help us in deciding what we can modify in the near future.

So what do you say? We are eager to hear your comments, so please share with us!

It's great to see you back here! Thanks for sharing your comments! Yep, I love that "View new content" too; couldn't do without it!

We too miss the banner and have set the wheels in motion to get a new one built ASAP. It won't feel like our Happy Face home until that smiley is back up there somehow. Hopefully that will come sooner rather than later. We will do our very best! :sweatingbullets:

It's always good to see you again Amiga so thanks for popping in.

Actually, this board isn't too terribly different to the old one and if you hold your curser over each symbol, you will see what is hiding beneath. We have revised the "help" center, so there's another recourse for those having navigational difficulty.

We have also disabled lots of new features which would be superfluous to us here and defeat the purpose of our type of forum, so that means there is much less to learn. Our Administration board is another matter and much different to the last one. W a c k o ! However, our Invisionboard techies are gems and we can rely on them for help at any time.

After much searching and discussion, we have contracted a wonderful. professional skinner (web-designer) in AUSTRALIA to work with us on the "decoration" of our Forum Family Home. We have reason to believe that all will be complete in time for the opening of the Winter Olympics, in Vancouver (Canada's West Coast), this year. C l a p p i n g C l a p p i n g

Yes, the terminology with this latest upgrade has changed from the previous version so at first, we wandered all over the place to find what we were looking for. Have you noticed the little orange tab on the right side of the Home page which, when clicked, enables a "New Topics" thingy (hook) to pop out? Of course, the page shrinks a little for this to happen but another click takes it back to full size again.
